48-Hour Book Challenge: Fin

Total hours: 12.5
Books read: 2 (well, two separate halves, plus one whole)

Obviously, I wasn’t able to give all that much time to this this weekend, as anticipated. Honestly, I’m not sure I’ll do it again if it’s graduation weekend; there’s just too much going on and I didn’t like having my attention divided like that (either for the kids or the books).

The other lesson was that I shouldn’t read deep, complex books that I’m really excited about. I finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone in the afternoon of my first day, and really needed a day or so to process rather than diving straight into the next book. I can see this challenge being awesome as a way to blast through a stack of, say, middle grade girly fic that I feel professionally obligated to read but am not personally that jazzed about.

That said, it was so much fun to read everyone else’s posts and see what you all chose to read! And I loved devoting 5 hours straight to sit outside and read in the sunshine. I don’t remember the last time I did that. (Next time: sunscreen.)

I made the too deep, too complicated book mistake once. Once. Now I try to stick to something that goes down easier. So glad that you could join us!
