The empty places where we have yet to map

Via Kristin Cashore: The Known Universe. Full-screen highly recommended.

Thank you for making me miss science fiction.

And just for fun, a Christmas card from somewhere else out there. Happy days-between-Christmas-and-New-Year’s, everyone!

(Do those days have a name? Besides “The Dead Days,” that is. I want something a tad more uplifting. “The Winter Break That I Get and You Don’t,” perhaps? La la!)

I think the Dead Days is just right. Or the In Between. My dad worked in the auto industry, which used to take the week between Christmas and New Year’s off totally, so these In Between days were always a week of my dad being home all day and getting to do stuff with him. Usually around the house, because let’s not kid ourselves, we weren’t exactly the type for an Alaskan cruise.

I think the folks at Looney Labs call it “National Play Week” or something.
