Johnny Boo, “the best little ghost in the world,” and his pet ghost Squiggle, run into an ice cream monster, who turns out to be a nice ice cream monster, but accidentally eats Squiggle anyway. Squiggle and Johnny Boo have to use their “Squiggle Power” and “Boo Power” (respectively) to save the day.

I have some friends who think James Kochalka is the best thing ever. I haven’t read enough of his stuff to say. But I can say that my reaction to this was, “O… kay.” It’s pure candy silliness, in a way that gave me nothing to care about. There are no stakes in this world, just nice ice cream monsters and little ghosts who can squiggle their way out of tummies.
